اسأل Parleyfood
Sendai food revolves around simple, high-impact regional specialties. Grilled beef tongue (gyutan) dominates local restaurant menus, traditionally served with barley rice, ox tail soup, and green chili pickles. Sweetened edamame paste (zunda) coats rice cakes or blends into milkshakes sold at station kiosks. Chilled Chinese noodles (hiyashi chuka) were invented here as a summer relief dish.

history
Date Masamune founded Sendai in 1600 as the seat of the Sendai Domain. He laid out a grid of wide streets and encouraged tree planting along property lines for security and timber. Air raids destroyed most original Edo-period structures in 1945, leading to faithful mid-century reconstructions of the city's key mausoleums and castle foundations.
