The place was nice and clean, very good value, and Sam and Sister helped with the bags 👍.

I travel a lot and I believe that this could be a real gem, and well-worth a 10 , but a few things let it down. Fortunately, they should be easy to fix - the owners have clearly tried to make this a great place and I hope they do, because I'd choose to come back in a flash if the negative issues were resolved. The location is superb, just off a quiet road in the depths of beautiful Shropshire not far from the Welsh border and in easy reach of the small town of Bishop's Castle. The garden is lovely and access to the property was easy - the owner answered my phone call almost immediately to help with location and entrance code. There is a useful info book, a log-burner and a comfy bed in the main room, and in the entrance area a microwave, a fridge and a kettle and odd bits of cutlery. This area is essentially a conservatory, and there's a small sofa there - but watch the floor tiles, as they are not fixed. As regards value for money, it was very reasonable and if the relatively easy-to-fix things were sorted, I'd be happy to pay quite a bit more as the location is so fantastic. The shower room/toilet at first sight is lovely - but the shower temperature control is abysmal, and it took me ages to set it correctly to the tiny sweet spot between cold and scalding. The slightest adjustment causes massive fluctuation - and when I say scalding, I'm being accurate! The ceiling light fitting didn't work in the bedroom and the cupboard door, where there were a couple of mugs and plates and some cutlery, had to be wedged shut with paper - it swings open and is at head height, so needs watching! The loo roll holder fell on the floor and must have been broken, though I managed to refix it temporarily. The sponge scourer wasn't very new and there was no drainer or tray to put washed pots on

The location is lovely, and the conservatory offers a great view of the garden with plenty of birds. It’s handy to have a small fridge, kettle, coffee machine, etc., and the décor shows some thought, all at a reasonable price. I would have liked some communication before my stay; I was very busy the day before and realized I hadn’t been sent anything (I just turned up and it was fine). The bathroom really brings the place down – the shower is super sensitive and you can easily scald yourself; getting it just warm is hard. There’s no hot water in the sink, so you must boil a kettle, and the toilet cistern must be refilled manually. I find it odd to have a bare wood bedroom floor; there are a couple of rugs, but it could be properly carpeted or tiled. The conservatory doesn’t need carpet tiles, and if you have outdoor shoes on there’s nowhere to put them or hang a coat.

The bedroom was lovely, the facilities were well thought out, it was peaceful and the location was good. However, on the first night the radiator in the bedroom didn’t heat up and I couldn’t light the woodburner, and there was no one to ask for help.
