Lavinia Bay Beach Hotel

“Nice little hotel, close to the beach.”

I found the price a good deal and the staff were very friendly, yet the rooms offered little hanging or drawer space – though we only stayed two nights, so packing in suitcases worked out fine. Lying in the pool with ocean views was a highlight, but the location was far from town. A train runs along the back of the property, and the vacant block behind the hotel dampens the beach view, though peacocks were a nice surprise. The pool looked a bit run‑down, the stairs were loose and seemed like they could break, and a sharp loose nail was on the boards. Neither of the two sun loungers was usable; both had cracks in the plastic or missing backs.

“Very dirty and stinky surroundings”

The ocean view and the train running before my window were quiet at night, the big room was very nice, and the Wi‑Fi was very good. The balcony view was a very‑very dirty yard with a lot of trash, half‑naked workers, a dirty stinking water reservoir, loads of flies and cravens, stinky, stinky! The swimming pool had a very nice view of the ocean, but the surrounding area was stinky, with constructions left and right and broken stairs at the pool that spoiled the impression. The reception hall was very hot. I didn’t feel safe in the area, and there was nothing else special in the surroundings.

The location was great and the price felt reasonable, but the faucet dribbled terribly and there was barely any hot water.

I liked the place, even though it was still under renovation, and I gave it an 8.0/10.
