Mbizi Bush Lodge, nestled in Grietjie Game Reserve, offers an outdoor pool and veranda with Northern Drakensbergs views. The small lodge provides free WiFi, rooms with fan, minibar, and tea-and-coffee facilities. A 3-course dinner and full breakfast are served. The lodge is 32 km from Kruger National Park's Phalaborwa Gate and 33.5 km from Hans Merensky Golf Club, with free parking available.

The food was outstanding, the highlight of our vacation, and the property sits in the Big‑5 zone, which added excitement and fun—elephants even came to drink from the pool. However, we’d never spent so much for a single night and were disappointed by the wear and tear: door handles were half off, the toilet was clean but covered in lime scale, the lock was unreliable, some chairs were broken, and the pool loungers lacked cushions. No drama, but for that price we expected more.

What an amazing place! Right in the Grietjie reserve, wildlife literally walks through the lodge. The elephants (if you’re lucky) come to drink at the pool in the morning, the food is really great and very varied. The game drives were super fun, thanks to our guide Mbuzzi, who did everything he could to make sure we saw as many animals as possible – highly recommended! It’s a shame lunch isn’t included in the price, because you can’t quickly get to a supermarket.

A very beautiful lodge set in a private game reserve, with a host who shared fascinating bush stories during his partly self‑guided game drives, making the night‑time sighting of a male lion truly memorable. The meals left a particularly positive impression. Unfortunately, we never saw the elephants at the hotel’s pool during our two‑day stay, and we have to deduct a point for the price‑to‑value ratio, which feels too high compared with similar places we’ve visited elsewhere.

Staff amazing. Location amazing. Food absolutely lovely. Elephants at the pool were mind‑blowing. Issues: the door to the balcony in the room was hard to open, the overhead fan was faulty, water wasn’t working, but that was resolved. There was a lack of communication from the property before we arrived.
