I spent four nights at EcoHostal Tierra Prometida and was struck by the quiet, beautiful surroundings and the genuinely friendly folks there. Getting there meant wading barefoot across a big river and a smaller creek – a wild start that paid off when I reached the hilltop and saw the view while the owner was chopping plantains.

This hostel feels like the most exotic spot I’ve found in Colombia—surrounded by jungle, lots of wildlife, and a calm vibe that makes you want to stay forever. You have to cross two rivers to get in and out, which was a refreshing splash in the humid heat (sandals are a must), and Manuel and Jair were constantly friendly and helpful. The meals were consistently tasty, and I left feeling totally relaxed and grateful for the experience.
