My wife and I had a memorable honeymoon stay at La Terrazza di Porta Messina while touring Sicily. The room and bathroom were spacious, modern, and impeccably clean. The real star was the large balcony, giving 180‑degree views of Taormina, the Ionian Sea, and even the mainland. We were lucky to arrive during a full moon, so the sunsets and evening vistas were breathtaking. The apartment sits right on Corso Umberto in the historic center, so restaurants, shops, attractions, and the cable car to the beaches were all within walking distance. Downstairs there’s a great restaurant, Ristorante Pizzeria Porta Messina, where we had a fantastic dinner; the owner was friendly, helpful, and stayed in touch throughout our stay. We also liked the shared kitchen and laundry facilities, plus free coffee. We cooked a few meals ourselves and found the setup very convenient. Though another couple stayed in the adjacent unit, the property still felt very private; we only crossed paths on the balcony once. Overall, it was a wonderful place that made our honeymoon unforgettable, and we’d gladly recommend it to anyone visiting Taormina. We had no major complaints, the only note being the lack of an elevator—carrying luggage up several flights can be a bit tough for some. A few extra laundry supplies, like fabric softener and a higher‑quality detergent, would have been nice, but these were minor and didn’t spoil our experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend this place.
