I appreciated the bathtub, and the room used a key instead of a key card, so the door locked physically, which made me feel safer as a solo female traveller. The location was excellent and easily accessible, with plenty to do and the Portobello Market just a short walk away. A Smart TV in the room let me cast my shows, adding to the comfort. The woman at the front desk was welcoming and friendly, and her strong female presence made the check‑in experience a perfect 10/10. The hotel’s 3‑star rating is worth noting – it’s an old Kensington house turned hotel, so there are stairs to the room and I was on the top floor, which was a tiny bit of a struggle but nothing to complain about. The bathtub was old, the jets were a bit crusty, but wiping them with wipes from the shop fixed it.

The location was ideal, the neighbourhood was lively with great traditional pubs, and the receptionist was proactive, engaging, and took the time to chat with guests. The windows didn’t block the wind well and let it in a bit too easily.

Sarah was the best receptionist I’ve met in years – amazing customer service, very friendly, engaging, and helpful. I also liked the location, the cafés around, and the overall vibe. The reception area was exposed and unprotected, and the room’s bathtub looked dated and not clean enough, which made me feel unsafe, though it’s likely just the old state rather than poor cleaning.

“Great location, too much noise from the Underground. Bit shabby. The staff were good.”

The receptionist on arrival was excellent and very friendly, and the one on departure was almost as good. The underground trains kept us awake most of the night, there was no bedside light on one side of the bed, and the lighting was quite low except in the bathroom. Both the bedroom and the bathroom needed repair and redecorating.
