“We had a really relaxing stay. Very comfy bed, huge bath in the room, dog stayed for free and the food was excellent.”

I had a flawless stay with an excellent room, superb food, and impeccable service, and there was nothing to dislike.

The location was great and the staff were very friendly and helpful, creating a good atmosphere; the food was very good, but the cooked breakfast usually starts at 9.00 am, so when we arrived at 8.00 am the staff had to make a breakfast sandwich for us, and breakfast should be available earlier on a regular basis.

“A jolly fine stay!”

The old historic pub was lovely, set in a very quiet spot in the supremely beautiful Orford, and every staff member was friendly and helpful; we enjoyed a great evening meal and a tasty breakfast the next morning, with only a slightly eccentric plumbing system—typical of old English buildings.

“We had a pleasant 1 night stay.”

The building is attractive and steeped in history, the whole place was very clean, the staff were efficient, and the breakfast was high‑standard and very tasty; the location is great for walking around the village and down to the quay, and the car park opposite is ideal with a free permit. Our bed wasn’t comfortable, we heard the generator all night long, and both the room and the stark private terrace have great potential but lack attention to detail, with accessories reflecting a “that’ll do” attitude; we didn’t pull our blind up because there was a mattress standing up in the garden.

“Would not stay there again”

Breakfast and evening meals were okay, and free parking in the car park over the road was useful; Orford itself is a lovely place. However, the room was not serviced on any day during our stay, we had to replace two missing slats on the bed frame (which we found under the bed), the furnishings looked cheap and temporary, the main light pull was missing, bedside lights were falling apart, the outside space was untidy and unclean, and the windows either did not open or opened poorly.
