Hotel und Restaurant Zum Löwen

The hotel is located right in the old town, with cafés and restaurants within walking distance. Breakfast cost an extra 15 €, was sufficient and tasty. The hotel restaurant is very good—you get delicious Greek dishes. The staff are friendly, and the room is nice and very spacious. The stairs to the rooms are a bit steep—you have to be able to carry your luggage up to the top floor.

“In der Altstadt wie vor 40 Jahren.”

A hotel in the city centre of Gelnhausen, with the parking 200 m away (there’s simply no space in the old town). The room was spacious and the bathroom really large, but many things were just used. In the very modern, calcified shower you couldn’t adjust the water temperature because the knob was clogged, and some lamps in the rooms were missing bulbs entirely. Breakfast was fine for a guesthouse and was served at a table; there was no buffet. The staff were friendly and helpful, but I would describe this place more as a good guesthouse than a hotel. From that perspective, it feels like a charming 80s hostel, which pleasantly sets it apart from the hotel standard.

“Very good - room was much better than I expected”

The shower doors didn’t close properly, so water kept leaking out into the bathroom.

The location is good and central. The scent of the sheets and towels after the fragrance treatment was extremely strong and unpleasant, and guests weren’t informed in a timely manner about the checkout procedure.

“Tolles, altes Hotel im Zentrum”

The central location is perfect, right in the old town. The courtyard beer garden is also lovely. The bathroom is very cramped and small, but the building is old, so that’s unavoidable.
