“Recommended place in Ozu for pilgrims.”

The host was very friendly and gave good advice on where to book for the pilgrimage in Kumakogen, suggesting a two‑night stay and even made the reservation for me. Washing and mashing were free (osettai). Some parts of the inn are old or worn out and should be replaced, such as the loose men’s toilet divider and the worn‑out door to my room.

Großes Zimmer und guter Service des freundlichen Personals. Als Übernachtung beim Pilgern perfekt gewesen. Leider keine Option für ein Einzelzimmer vorhanden, daher leider etwas teurer

The location was convenient, and the owner let me check in early. The price shown on booking was much higher than the one advertised on Henro House, which the ryokan itself also listed. The owner would tell you when you could use the shower or bath, which felt awkward and unexpected. The doors don’t lock, so if you prefer a locked door you should note that. The place had a strong mold smell, which might be normal for a Showa‑era ryokan but was extremely pungent. There seemed to be only one toilet for the whole house to share. If these issues bother you, I’d suggest booking the business hotel across the street, which is about the same price.

“Cozy and comfortable”

The place was clean, neat, and cozy. It was hard to locate while driving with Google Maps.
