Motel Sierra sits at the northern end of State Highway 1 in Whangarei, offering easy access to the town centre (5 minutes), Whangarei Airport (15 minutes) and Whangarei Falls (10 minutes). Each studio and apartment features a kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave, stove, and tea‑coffee facilities, plus a TV, heating, free off‑street parking, outdoor pool, indoor spa pool, coin‑laundry, children’s grassed play area, Wi‑Fi, and a computer with printer.

The shower was the only decent thing, but there was black mould on the exterior that was visible. The owner was rude. The pool was the main reason I chose this motel, but it wasn’t available. I could have gotten a nicer motel for cheaper. The beds were too firm. Not all plug outlets worked, and it wasn’t as clean as it should have been.

There was no heater in the room, which was disappointing for the price.

The rooms were nice, comfy and warm, but the receptionist asked too many personal questions.

Despite being on a main road, the place stayed quiet, yet it felt very dated and could use a refresh, especially the bathroom, toilet, and kitchen.
