“Je ne recommande absolument pas surtout pour les personnes non fumeurs. En plus de l’odeur de cigarette froide il y’a d’”
The staff were friendly even though there was a language barrier, but the smell of cold cigarette and stale air was awful. People smoked in the corridor even though the hotel is non‑smoking, and the odor seeped into the hallway carpet, which is heavily stained. Non‑guests lingered in the common areas like the lobby. Despite the staff’s attempts to use diffusers to remove the foul smell, it persisted. The neighborhood is far from downtown Shanghai, so taxis are needed to get there, but fortunately they aren’t expensive.
I appreciated how spacious and nice the room was, and the staff—especially the cleaning aunties and the reception—were pleasant. They offered refreshments too. However, I didn’t like that other guests were smoking and the smoke drifted into my room. I hope the hotel can enforce its policies more strictly, especially for tourists like us who aren’t used to this. Maybe they should improve ventilation so the smoke doesn’t reach other rooms.
