The spot is perfect, right on a street lined with a lot of old houses.

What a cozy place! I’m thrilled to have found Tsubamenoyado and the little town of Kambara; I’d love to come back longer, rent a bike, and wander around. Kosei is a very friendly host who runs the inn with care and offers plenty of activities for guests—truly a unique spot, I’d recommend it without hesitation.

A very pleasant hostel, exceptionally well kept. The common areas and bathrooms were spotless, with a couple of showers and toilets. The bunk beds had tatami and the futons were quite comfortable. The only downside is that there isn’t much interesting nearby at the end of your stay.

The homestay is a renovated old house, but the equipment is all new and well maintained. In summer the cotton blankets were a bit too hot; next time I’ll ask if there are thinner ones available.
