“Sorry, but disappointing!”

The view was beautiful and the Rosa room was pretty. I was disappointed that the pool wasn’t ready and no breakfast was offered. The owner was ill, so I didn’t see any staff. I only learned about breakfast at 8 am on the first morning, so I had to leave the hotel on a Sunday morning and find a place to eat without knowing the area. A small tea and coffee station at the top of the stairs was not stocked, so I had to ask for tea and coffee pods. Apparently it isn’t a B&B anymore. The road to the accommodation is very steep and narrow. If you’re booking, check on the pool and breakfast. I wish I had.

“Quiet place in a nice little town just outside of Rome. Spectecular views over the city.”

We drove in last minute to Rome in May and couldn’t find anything we liked in the city, so we decided to go outside Rome, rent a car, and we’re so glad we did. The cost was one‑third of what a smaller room without views in Rome would have cost. With the money saved we could easily afford a car, then we drove into town to the Cinecittà station where Silvia pointed us to safe parking for 1.50 € per day and the return metro ticket costs another 3 € per person. We got our morning coffee and breakfast in Grottaferrata and ate dinner there sometimes because you get a higher quality meal for half the price you pay in the tourist areas of Rome. It is just so quiet here. We slept well and enjoyed winding down after visiting the busy city. If you’re traveling in summer, I consistently felt about 3 °C colder than in the city. I could see the thermometer dropping as we drove out of the city into the hills around Grottaferrata. I like firm mattresses, and this was a bit on the soft side, but we still slept well and would come back any day.

“Ottima stanza con vista spettacolare”

The room is comfortably sized, with essential but well‑kept furniture. They fixed the heating issue and added a heat pump, which made us very comfortable. The view is spectacular. The area is residential, so without a car it might be a bit inconvenient, but walking easily reaches the center of Grottaferrata. We had a car and they let us park right next to the property. Check‑in was simple and communication with the owner, who is truly a wonderful person, was excellent. She prepared breakfast each day to suit our needs. The bed was comfortable. Highly recommended.
