Hostal Fogón de Gredos

“Enclave inigualable, precio desorbitado para un hostal claramente desgastado.”

The hotel is in a wonderful spot, but the water heater was rusty and caused a persistent leak, the bathroom chain was broken and dripping, leading to dampness in the room. The price was wildly overpriced for the quality of the accommodation.

Alfredo was super attentive, and the kitchen was the best part—those goat skewers were excellent. Nothing else to mention.

“Un hostal demasiado básico.”

The view from the location is gorgeous, but we were given a room that faced a tiny, awful patio; the bathroom lights were dim and dark, the walls were so thin we heard everything, and no staff bothered the people laughing and chatting until 4 am. At 5:30 am someone in the adjacent room started showering, and the noise felt like a deluge in ours. The mattresses had visible springs. It’s a hostel that’s not very hospitable, offering nothing beyond the basics in comfort, décor, and construction. I won’t return. Too bad the surroundings are spectacular.

“Nefasto”

The location was fine. The cleanliness was very bad, everything was dusty, there was no shower gel and the room wasn’t refreshed. On the last day they didn’t even change the sheets, they just made the bed with dirty sheets and changed the towels. The armchairs were broken, you sit and sink in. The TV was tiny and some furniture was broken. When I opened the bathroom I was left with the handle in my hand… it was broken. Breakfast was very bad too; I ordered toast and the owner only gave you a small bottle of tomato sauce that wasn’t enough for all the bread. I don’t recommend this place. We only stayed to sleep because you didn’t feel like being in the room, and 70 € per night for this quality seems very expensive. I wouldn’t pay more than 30 € per night.
