“Paraiso em Mangue Seco”
The pousada was gorgeous and cozy, and Dany attended us with excellence, doing everything possible for an outstanding stay; kudos to the staff for being so kind and dedicated. The bed was good with nice linens, the simple room was fragrant and spotless, the small bathroom was adequate for the standard, and the TV had good channels. I only note that a wall hook would add comfort. The restaurant was great; we ate a flambéed shrimp with fruit that was delicious and fresh. Breakfast was plentiful, and because the pousada wasn’t crowded it was served at the table; we could choose everything in advance and in the desired quantity. I suggest the juice be served cold for better flavor and that the tapioca be made on the spot to stay soft. The variety of options is almost a lunch… haha. The pool was clean and very nice, with hammocks everywhere; we didn’t use the arch and rope or the kayaks, but they were available. The tours are pricey, but that’s part of it, as the pousada is far from the village and everything depends on transport; those who go know this, otherwise they’d stay in a village pousada. It’s truly a special place to visit. The view in front of the pousada during the tide’s rise and fall is spectacular. It was worth every cent spent. As mentioned, I recommend the juice be served cold and the tapioca made on the spot for softness, and that a wall hook be added to the room for more comfort. I saw reviews complaining about the transport cost to the pousada, but the site already states that payment will be required; the location is far from the village and there’s no escape, but it’s included from the nearby dock, and the crossing, as we found out, is slightly cheaper than with locals, though it doesn’t take you to the pousada after arriving in the village, so it’s worth the charge.
