We absolutely adored staying at Sweetfontein Lodge, it's the jewel of the Karoo. I've been wanting to visit for years after seeing their weddings on instagram, and it more than exceeded our expectations. I was travelling with my daughter and we were upgraded to the honeymoon suite which was such a treat, one which we really appreciated. Huge room and enormous bathroom and sitting room. At every turn there is something to feast your eyes on - thorns and cacti hanging from the ceilings, piles of rocks arranged cascading with pears on the tables, exquisite mirrors, chandeliers, plates, vases and platters made by the staff in their pottery studio. Don't miss their wonderful shop where those items are for sale. There are more places to sit and enjoy the view / read a book / listen to the birds / have a coffee or a cocktail than I have ever experienced in any establishment. Wonderful comfortable sofas and chairs all around the property. The food was delicious and they kindly accommodated my vegan daughter and made her lovely meals. But more than anything it was the staff who made our stay so memorable - they were ALL delightful and we have such fond memories of this lovely place. Jacque, Shane, Faaizah, Macklin, Philip, Jan and many others took such great care of us. We are sad we didn't stay for another night!
