The breakfast was excellent, the chalet was clean and organized, and the reception was fantastic.

The accommodation fell far short of expectations for many reasons: it sits in a remote spot accessed by a muddy, risky road that’s steep, riddled with potholes and dangerous bridges, completely dark, with no lighting and no nearby market, restaurant, gas station or pharmacy; it takes about 30 to 40 minutes to reach Mucugê, and we came for São João, yet the travel cost and the danger on the way were huge. Breakfast was terrible – not served at the table, we had to wait for the owner to cook the eggs every day, and the spread was limited to eggs, plantain, cold stale bread, cheese, ham and coffee, with the owner seeming to recite the menu. On top of that, two large dogs roamed free, which scared us; even after we told the owner they bothered us, they stayed loose and kept hanging around breakfast, making an already bad meal even worse. We often felt uneasy leaving the property to the car and back. Overall a very poor experience; I would not recommend it.
