Bukit Indah Homestay

The sea view is beautiful, the air conditioning is excellent, and the location is ideal. Unfortunately, almost none of the listed amenities were available (hygiene items, kettle, sheets instead of a blanket, etc.), and the breakfast was poorer.

We stayed in the family room on the top step, with a wonderful view, quietness, and a terrace to relax on in the evenings. The staff were welcoming and ready to fulfill any request. They organize boat tours, rent scooters (essential for moving around freely), and provide a taxi service because Grab is somewhat lacking in the area.

I was always greeted with a smile, and the views were spectacular – I loved it. The bathrooms are somewhat very old.

I stayed in the first cabin, and the view was the main attraction – you could just open the door and be surrounded by it, no need to leave the bed. The garden I watered every other day became part of my life, the family homestay felt like a new addition, and the roof access let me watch the stars and hear the distant ocean, with a faint echo of ash drifting in the night. It was a pretty private spot, halfway between the two main snorkeling and swimming beaches. I knew what I was getting for the price, so I didn’t complain. If you expect flawless showers, toilets, water, perfect beds, and the like for that rate, you might want to look twice at options that are twice as expensive on Booking, but it really depends on what you want. For me, it was a magical place, so I extended my stay by four nights and spent 17 days there.

The room’s view from the terrace perched high above the bay was stunning, and the hosts were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was made on site at request, the Warung was very good, and you could snorkel right across from the homestay. The bungalows are perched on the mountain’s flank, so it’s hard to get there with a suitcase, and there’s no access for people with disabilities – you’ll need a lift.
