República Estudantil Birinaite

“Birinaite - a melhor de Ouro Preto”

The owners were really courteous and paid attention to everything we needed, and the place is right in the middle of everything. All the details seemed well‑planned and tidy, which made the stay hassle‑free.

Staying here meant I could stroll to all the main sights of Ouro Preto without any transport, and the student hosts were both friendly and well‑mannered. They introduced themselves by nicknames—a long‑standing tradition in the local student houses—and made sure everything felt safe and comfortable for the price.

“Ótima!”

The spot is right in the historic centre, right opposite a church, and the view is really nice. Even though it’s a shared house, the rooms and bathroom were surprisingly clean, and the electronic door let us come and go whenever we wanted. Alexandre (known as “Gangorra”) welcomed us politely and gave a quick tour, so I’d definitely recommend it for anyone looking for good value in Ouro Preto.

“Pelo valor, valeu mais ou menos a Pena”

I loved the surroundings and the view, and the location was super close to everything we wanted to see. On the downside, the room had no fan and the window lacked curtains, so daylight kept me awake, and there was no sheet or towel provided despite the lack of a blanket. We also ran out of toilet paper once, and the overall cleanliness of the room could use a boost.

Keep in mind this is a youth republic, so you’ll be sharing with young people, but the location is excellent and the room was spacious with a great view. The bathrooms stayed clean all the time, and as two women we felt safe and respected; the guys were courteous and gave us plenty of privacy.
