The Logis Hotel De France, La Chartre-sur-le-Loir, boasts an ivy-covered Art Déco façade and is situated on the northern edge of the Loire Valley. The hotel features a sun terrace, swimming pool, and gardens backing onto the Loir River. Guests enjoy traditional French cuisine, free WiFi, and private parking, with rooms offering TV, telephone, and private bathroom with bath or shower.

The staff, the setting and the garden pool area were great, the bed was comfortable and the air‑conditioning excellent, and the restaurant was superb on the first night; however, on the second night the menu changed to a far lesser type, and the bar breakfast area was bare on the last morning with too few tables set.

The room was great and the location was so popular that many expats live nearby, which is not so great; dinner was disappointing and pricey for what it was, and the staff were surly, which is unfortunately common in France.

We have stayed here a few times now and it’s a great little stop for traveling through France, but the bed felt a bit hard, though that’s just a personal preference.

Finding the place was easy and the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly; it’s an iconic spot steeped in motor‑car history, and I loved everything.
