Big Five Motel

“Great friendly staff … great units … a perfect place to stay 🩷”

The stay was fantastic. The owners were lovely, and I appreciate that they’re dog‑friendly. It’s right next to a huge park and the Esplanade. The accommodation is fabulous, reasonably priced, and the bed is extremely comfortable. I’ll definitely return.

“Excellent value for money, clean and central location”

The bed layout was excellent. We were there for a national school dance competition, one adult and three teenagers. Bedroom one had a large bed, bedroom two had two single beds, and the lounge had another single bed with a pull‑out that could also sleep a child if needed. The unit was spotless. Cookies and milk were a nice touch. The hostess was very helpful and friendly. Some road noise at night—mostly Friday and Saturday—and there were TV tech issues.

The owner is wonderful and friendly, walks you to your unit, shows you the park, opens the door, puts milk in the fridge, and warns about the milk lid—so helpful.

“Perfect room for what i was after. will definately consider using Big 5 next time I'm in Palmerston”

Great location, compact room size but perfect for my 1 night stay. There was nothing about the room i didn't like

The place is great for a stop between the North and South Islands, they let me check in late and even accepted our dogs, the hotel was clean and warm, the beds were nice, but the bathroom lacked a spot for toiletries or a cabinet.
