The view from the room was incredible, and the buffet offered a huge variety of tasty dishes; the room felt clean and we enjoyed the two days immensely, especially the cocoa that the kids said was unbelievably good. When we tried to catch the morning bus to Atami Station, the driver asked if we had a reservation, then said “Did you check?” and we, being first‑time users, didn’t understand, so we went to the front desk for an explanation, only to get a puzzled look from the receptionist; meanwhile other guests who hadn’t booked were boarding, and we were left feeling angry and excluded, which ruined the mood for the second night’s start. The driver seemed to judge us by our appearance, whereas the next day’s driver knew exactly who should board and was extremely pleasant, making us wonder why the service could be so different. If that first driver hadn’t been there, Kamei Hotel would have been perfect.
