The house was beautiful with a small terrace, and the gentleman was friendly and welcoming. A noisy couple was there, but it wasn’t late, so I couldn’t complain too much… The same people were noisy in the morning, but it wasn’t too early…

The location was definitely good and the exterior had a great charm, but the owner, being alone, could only do so much. Breakfast was adequate. Inside, the room was shabby, cramped, with a bulky shower box and a toilet sitting 50 cm from the bed, separated by a plastic curtain. That made the in‑room bathroom feel more like a nuisance. There was a second bathroom available by stepping onto the terrace and back into the common area or passing through an office, the breakfast room, kitchen, and reception—so it wasn’t really an in‑room bath. The first night we were offered a larger room, but we stayed in the same one the second night. Cleaning definitely needs improvement.

We really liked the welcome, the breakfast, and the location that let us walk to everything—Clos Lucé, Château d'Amboise, and the town. The toilets need some work, so that’s a necessary fix.

We didn’t stay at this place; when we arrived the room had an unbearable mold smell. The owner said the closed window could be ventilated, but the noise would have ruined our sleep. The flush didn’t work. A room on the side of the hill isn’t a troglodyte room. The owner cancelled us and we’re still waiting for a refund, unable to process it directly with Booking. Thankfully we found another hotel to stay at at our own expense, and the owner did nothing to help find a solution. A traumatizing experience, though the place is supposedly a Gîte de France.

The place is centuries old, quirky, and the owner is very attentive. Don’t try to arrive by town road—it’s a hassle.
