Everything about the place is good: it’s in town and you meet people from different countries. The guard wasn’t notified about my stay, so he couldn’t open the gate when I arrived; I had to find another place to stay for the night.

The location is on point, and the huge common area is great. My private room was cleaned every day, but the outlets in the room don’t work, so I had to charge my phone and battery pack in the common area.

The location and atmosphere were great, the staff were very helpful and lovely, and the restaurant was great. The power was out the whole time we were there. They had a backup generator but only turned it on occasionally. I had to ask for it to be turned on to give us water in the room. When I asked the staff, the lady was great and went to ask the manager, who replied, “Why do they need water? A toilet should flush once, maybe twice before we need to turn the generator on.” We booked a private room with a private bathroom, but in the end our shower had no hot water, so we had to use the shared bathroom anyway.

The only bright spot was the lady in blue at the front desk, who stored my luggage free for an entire day. The bed was fine but chilly, and more blankets would have helped. The shower flow was sluggish, and the toilet windows lacked glass; two openings that can’t be closed let cold air and insects in. The power sockets failed, forcing me to charge at reception. Weekend nights had loud music until 2 am, and even after the receptionist warned me it was too late to change hotels. The hotel runs on a generator that shuts off at midnight, leaving no power from 12 am to about 6 am. The ensuite room I booked was overpriced compared to similar places nearby, and there was no breakfast even though I paid a hefty fee for a backpacker lodge. A 3 % card transaction fee was added as well.

The pool, bar with local and international dishes like grilled chicken, pizza, pasta, burgers, and omelettes, and drinks create a good vibe, and the staff are helpful and dedicated. The private room is basic but the bed is good. However, the rooms lack complimentary body gel and shampoo, and finding a bar of soap is a bummer.
