“Uneventful”

Everything was fine; the room was standard and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast wasn’t the best I’ve had, but it wasn’t the worst either, though the sausages were awful! I needed help in the morning because I accidentally left my phone charger in my car several miles away. When I asked the morning porter—Mark, I think—he was rather unhelpful and oddly awkward. I felt as if he was following me around while I tried to solve my problem. A lady behind the bar offered a charger, which I later found didn’t work. Luckily another guest helped, but I lost breakfast time while waiting for the phone to charge.

“Not good”

The staff were nice. The room’s bed was rock‑hard, the walls were thin and let in everything from other rooms, including a loud TV at 3:30 am, and cleaners tried to enter at 9:30 am.

“Would not stay there again”

Some staff were caring and attentive. However, there was no key card system in operation; the staff informed me that this happened at least once a month and it was a common occurrence, forcing me to ask a staff member to open the 2nd‑floor door every time there was no remote control. I was totally dissatisfied with everything.

“Budget hotel, location next to canal pleasant, but very close proximity to sewage works - smelly”

The room was basic but clean. Pillows were dreadful and needed changing. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean and spacious. The shower was very poor; I couldn’t adjust the temperature because the control was fixed solid. Water was tepid and the flow was very weak. Towels and toiletries were good. Tea and coffee supplies were adequate. The smoking area outside the room made the room smell of cigarettes. The staff were friendly but the service was very slow. There was a lot of noise in the morning through gaps around the door. Food at the restaurant was below average. Sewage and water treatment works were very close, so there was always an unpleasant odor in the air. (The same paragraph repeats.)
