“Comfy stay for a weekend away”

The bed was comfy, the bathroom floor was heated, the shower and spa bath were nice, and the location was excellent with restaurants, pubs, and the lake within walking distance; some sound does travel from above.

“A quiet, homey staycation that made us want to stay a couple more days”

We were thrilled by how close the place was to Taupo City and how lovely our host Marg was. Even though she was unwell, she still messaged us to check in and ask if we were warm and needed anything during those cold winter nights. The Airbnb was spotless when we arrived and felt like a homey modern nook, perfect for two to relax, unwind and enjoy a bit of nature while in Taupo. Nothing negative – it was genuinely a great home away from home.

We absolutely loved this apartment. It was so central to everything we wanted to visit. Marg has done an exceptional job creating this wee apartment, spending little money but achieving high-standard fittings. It’s advertised as having no kitchen, but with what’s available you can manage easily enough. We were very, very comfortable. Take my hat off to Marg and I wish her the very best.

“Great hosts with accommodation suiting my needs for the triathlon, would book again”

The hosts were lovely. The place is within walking distance to town and the lake – if you’re staying during the Ironman, it’s a 5‑minute walk to the transition area and under 20 minutes to the finish village. Bonus: a post‑race spa bath. The drive to and from the airport is relatively straightforward. The bedroom and living area are well‑appointed and spacious enough for luggage or race gear. The hosts were flexible with check‑in and check‑out around other bookings, allowing for pre‑race prep and pack‑down.

“One of the best places I've ever stayed in”

I doubt I’ll find better accommodation on my entire trip – the bed was incredibly comfortable, the lounge very spacious and easy to feel at home in, and the bathroom was something else – a great bath and a large walk‑in shower. It felt like luxury and put some hotel suites to shame. It was also an easy walk down to the lake shore and into town. Wi‑Fi worked great too. To top it off, I had a wonderful welcome from the lovely host who was very helpful with local tips that I managed to squeeze in and was glad I did. Hopefully one day I’ll return to NZ and if I do, this will be a no‑brainer to book again. Nothing negative – I just wish I could have stayed longer!
