What an oasis beside the rice paddies; we spent 3 nights and felt we could stay forever. The rooftop room offered a terrific view of the mountains, and Mai Chau feels like a little gem, similar to Ninh Binh from 10 years ago. Set among villages, this homestay was excellent, and the pool was a great place to unwind after the day's activities. Not much to complain about.

The site in the middle of the rice fields gave a beautiful view! The beds were a bit hard and the pillows a bit thin.

The location and views were incredible. The pool and breakfast area were beautiful, and the staff were very helpful. However, the air‑con couldn’t handle the heat, making it hard to sleep and cool down—very unpleasant. The mattress was very hard and there were no toppers. Pillows and linen were below standard; I had to ask for another pillow. We received very little information about pool towels, the electric mini‑buses, etc. At checkout we were told they didn’t accept credit cards, so we only had enough dong to pay everything. There was no safe in the room, and the furniture felt cheap and uncomfortable. Only one mirror in the bathroom, no tissues or hand wash. Outside the room there was no proper seating; the top‑floor room looked lovely on the website and it has gorgeous views, but there was no shade and a table with broken chairs on the terrace. Our neighbours sat there and smoked. The loungers by the pool were semi‑broken and made of deteriorated plastic. Breakfast was the worst we’ve had in Vietnam—limited choice, no fruit, weak cocktails that were expensive. The place had no atmosphere or ambience. La Luna looked nice on the web but the experience fell short; corners were cut. The reviews are overly flattering. Very disappointing.

The balcony offered a nice, airy view and the room was clean, with a spacious bathroom and all the usual amenities; breakfast gave plenty of choices and the front‑desk staff were welcoming. Unfortunately, we shared the night with a company group that sang and shouted loudly from early afternoon until late at night, forcing us to stay out until very late and ruining the relaxation for other guests. The breakfast server wasn’t truthful about MSG in the pho—when I asked, the server said there was none, but the kitchen staff admitted there was a little, and later the cook warned me not to eat it because I’m allergic. I appreciate the cook for being honest.
