Located on the shores of the Knysna Lagoon, Protea Hotel by Marriott Knysna Quays features an outdoor pool with Indian Ocean views. Stylishly decorated rooms offer free WiFi, satellite TV, and large windows with warm tones. Some rooms have lagoon views, while others overlook the historic Knysna Railway Station or Waterfront shopping complex. The hotel offers a breakfast restaurant and nearby dining options, including seafood and game cuisine.

The Protea Knysna Quays Hotel sits right on the waterfront, so you’re on the lagoon and can walk into town or explore further by foot. The rooms were very nice and spacious, the breakfast buffet was generous and high‑quality, and the whole staff was friendly and helpful. The elevator had been out of service for a while, so the staff had to carry our luggage up to the rooms.

Everything’s great, especially the large showers. I miss having room service for a cappuccino before bed and for my husband’s snacks while watching TV at night. There were no working lifts, but the staff were friendly and helped us with our suitcases, even though my knee isn’t great. We’ll definitely return because the staff are so helpful.

Right on the waterfront. Ongoing renovation work means the lift to the third floor is out of order.

The lifts were out of order because of a complete replacement, which wasn’t mentioned before we arrived, and we had to walk up and down two floors every time.
