The Bear Hotel by Greene King Inns

The staff handled every request with cheerfulness and attentiveness, and the room was well positioned and spacious. However, the lighting in the room needs replacement; the lamps are impossible to use and the switch is bare, sharp, and dangerous.

“Great restaurant but accommodation is lacking”

The staff, especially at the bar and restaurant, were great. The bathroom had issues: the toilet didn’t flush well, the shower filled with water and took ages to drain, and it was noisy above from 6am onwards.

The staff were lovely and very accommodating, and the hotel was full of historical character. If you stay on the bottom floor off the courtyard, a running stream flows outside your bedroom window. The Sunday roast was excellent, and I look forward to staying again.

Breakfast was nice and the surrounding area was lovely.
