“calm hostel perfect for resting, working or exploring Shkoder and surroundings”

I was upgraded and ended up with my own room and a bathroom shared with only two other people, so I can’t really review the dormitory, but the room and the facilities I used were good. The location is a bit outside town, but that’s actually the charm of the hostel in my view, because you can enjoy a nice, calm view of the surroundings from the balcony. Everything is still reachable on foot, but if you prefer to get there faster, there’s the option to rent a bike at the hostel.

I stayed at the hostel and found Ignace to be an excellent host. The breakfast was very good, included, and he prepares it whenever you want, even leaving a sandwich and juice ready if you need to leave very early. The hostel is very spacious, with many resting areas after a day of sightseeing. I liked it so much that I ended up staying 5 nights instead of the 2 I had planned.

The host was so lovely and helpful, making us feel very welcome. Our room and view were gorgeous, and we were lucky enough to see the sunset. My friend and I had a great time in Shkoder, such a lovely place, and our host recommended we go to Shala River—he was so helpful in organizing this for us. I really recommend it; it was beautiful.

The owner is really friendly and offers a lot of help. There is also breakfast with the option to take a lunch box. The rooms are super clean

I really liked: the welcome from the owner, Ignace, a very francophone Belgian who is hospitable and attentive; the decoration—a successful mix of sculptures and African objects with Belgian and French antiques—very original for the house and its warm atmosphere; the façade of the hotel, one of the most beautiful modern buildings I’ve seen in Shkoder; the breakfast (especially the coffee, bread, and eggs) on the balcony with a view of the mountains and vineyards; the wooded terrace with comfortable garden furniture that offers a pleasant working environment; the very friendly guests (not to mention the cat Michelle); the location on a quiet small street, a few minutes by bike (on flat terrain) from the “hypercentre” of Shkodar and close to the train station, which in the medium term should reopen and be served by the Tirana‑Shkoder line.
