Tan Hotel Astana

The hotel was at the address listed on the website, but the mattress had a hole in the middle and was uncomfortable, the broken window didn't close and it was cold at night, and the windows faced a playground that was noisy. There were no nightstands, gadgets had to be charged on the floor, and half the lightbulbs were out, leaving it dark. The receptionist was disgusting, rude, inappropriate, and arrogant. The hotel is on a remote edge, far from everything: the city center, the airport, and Astana. The sink was tiny and unusable. I don't recommend it.

The furniture is relatively new and the place is clean, but the plumbing in the shower constantly leaks, and the women at the reception (if that’s what they are) seemed shocked each time they saw us, repeatedly asking which room we were in during our two‑night stay – very unpleasant and unprofessional. We chose a hotel to avoid such unprofessionalism, yet it was lacking. There was no air‑conditioning, so with the outside heat we had to keep the windows open; they face the main street, so the traffic noise made sleeping and relaxing difficult.

The location was convenient for the competition we attended across the street at the sports complex, with a bus stop nearby and the LRT station a 15‑minute walk away. The room supplied everything we needed – slippers, toothbrushes, shampoo, a hairdryer, tea, coffee and two 0.5 L bottles of water. There was no fridge, but the reception offered to store food for us if required. Breakfast was tasty, hearty and generous; my child and I shared one plate. The room had air‑conditioning and the staff were polite. The cleaning left something to be desired – I found hair that wasn’t mine, suggesting the room hadn’t been properly tidied before us.
