Staying in an old house felt more charming than a soulless hotel. The voucher for the onsen was a lovely way to end our visit at that ultra‑traditional onsen. The bathroom is really Spartan, with no hot water for the third person showering. The location is truly far from everything: the ferry, the train station, and the living areas of Takamatsu.

Terrible and should definitely not be a property. My wife and I have visited about 15 countries and stayed in properties from hostels to five‑star hotels— in every category this was the worst property we have ever stayed in. It was filthy completely, holes in the ceiling and walls, the “windows” were plastic and the frames misshapen so they don’t close properly, any vibration from trains to cars or wind make the windows rattle and there is always cold air coming in because they don’t close completely. The toilet is literally outside of the house and the door leading to the outside of the house is the only exterior door/window beside the front door made of glass and it does not close properly because the frame is misshapen. In the entryway is a wooden shelf that is fu;l of dust and grime from probably 100‑years of accumulation. The upstairs “windows’ are also plastic misshapen frames that don’t close and rattle nonstop. Usually we don’t want to leave a property but we could not wait to leave this property. It is literally an old dilapidated Akita that someone wanted to use to make money, so they did such an amateurish “renovation’ by slapping some wood stain, paint on various places and submitting it to . Plastic and glass was filthy, the layout is bizarre and absurd. Shower was literally in the kitchen, toilet was literally outside. Everywhere you went was a different height and through a door so poorly maintained that it made so much noise due to the misshapen frames. The air is so dusty that within an hour of being there, two guests had allergies really badly and my 1 yr old baby kept coughing and sneezing. I messaged the owner to tell them of the filthy situation and that at bare minimum they should provide air purifiers, but the truth is that this place should not be allowed to be rented by or the city. If we were in the US I would have reported it to the authorities for being an uninhabitable property. Everything. Inspect the property yourself . You should have never allowed this to be approved on your site.

The renovated old farmhouse kept a lot of its traditional vibe, and every piece of furniture was lovely. I could relax and felt deeply healed. The many art displays were moving and captivating. When I come to Takamatsu again, I’ll stay here again!

A dream stay for art lovers! The tatami and veranda let me experience the past, and there were so many artworks to enjoy while watching the view. The shower water pressure was a little weak, but they kindly gave us free tickets to a nearby public bath, which was generous.

The owner was very helpful and even arranged my requested check‑in time, which was very kind. There was a lot of art, and the bold, uplifting paintings were breathtaking. Staying while interacting with the art felt luxurious and gave me an unreal day. When I come to Takamatsu again, I’ll stay here!
