“Very comfortable stay in this historic hotel”
The location was perfect, the stay comfortable, the food terrific, and the local beer delightful. This historic hotel has plenty of beams (remember to duck) and feels truly ancient. The staff were excellent from arrival to departure, including the bar staff. The breakfasts were amazing, and the evening meal (steak and ale pie) was very good too. They were happy to let us park in the convenient car park right opposite, which we appreciated. The shower was great. The only downside was the slightly worrisome steps down into the bathroom; an extra handhold would help. The village has a fair amount of traffic winding through it, and the front of the hotel opens straight onto one of these roads—though that’s a problem wherever you stay in this pretty, historic village with its narrow roads and slim pavements.
