It felt like staying in a rural grandparents' house; I stayed on the first floor where everything that could be used or not was clearly marked, so I could use it freely and it was comfortable. I also appreciated the free towel service. The facility was just a typical house: a large living room split by a partition, a Japanese-style room with four nice mattresses, and no real sense of security, soundproofing, or privacy. The bath, washbasin, and kitchen were shared, so I sometimes met people who stayed on the second floor that same morning. The owner didn't interfere unnecessarily, and I only met him at check‑in and when I left, which left a very good impression of his thoughtfulness.

The kitchen had all the tools I needed, and I was told I could use them freely, which was very helpful.

I was worried about the Kumamoto earthquake, but Aso City had no damage and I could relax. Guest House Taihei felt like going back to my family home. The owner was kind and kept in touch frequently. The bathroom was spacious enough for me and my two daughters. I received a natural hot‑spring bath additive and there was a sauna, though I didn’t use it this time. I could use towels freely, which was great. The room had four beds and was comfortable, and there was laundry and a drying space, which was useful. The dryer’s airflow was weak, so it took a bit longer to dry hair for the three girls. Some spots weren’t cleaned thoroughly, but that wasn’t a big deal.
