It wasn’t the Excelsior but the Mercure Hotel Mannheim, yet everything ran smoothly.
“Das Hotel hatte eine gute Lage direkt am Ludwigshafener Hauptbahnhof. Leider hat es zugemacht..”
I couldn’t share much about the hotel because it closed between booking and arrival; the staff contacted me and offered me an alternative, Hotel 38 in Mannheim, with the same conditions as in Ludwigshafen, which I accepted. The disappointment was that the hotel I had booked had closed before I could use it as a guest.
The place was clean, but overall it needs renovation, the windows could be cleaned. The staff should be urged to do something. The worst breakfast ever – only what was requested was available.
The breakfast was good, but the room cleanliness left something to be desired.
“Overgeboekt naar ander hotel”
We were overbooked to Mercure Hotel Mannheim am Friedensplatz because Excelsior closed on 1 February; I have nothing further to say about Excelsior. Mercure is a good hotel just outside the centre, with a tram stop almost in front of the door. The rooms are well furnished and there’s a breakfast buffet with plenty of options. There’s also a hotel bar for a drink at the end of the day. We had specifically chosen Ludwigshafen, so we were a bit disappointed that this hotel closed. The transfer to another hotel went fairly smoothly, although sometimes emails were not answered or were delayed.
