“Great location on the lake, helpful staff, perfectly clean, great price.”
This was the first time we stayed in a traditional Japanese room on our three‑week Japan trip, so I wasn’t sure how I would sleep on floor futons, but they turned out to be very comfortable! The guest house is quite vintage, yet perfectly preserved, neat, tidy, and beautifully clean. We loved our room with a lake view. The sunroom at the front was lovely in the morning, a great spot for my morning cuppa. We rented a swan boat one day and then bikes to cycle around the whole lake the next. It was a great place to stay! I also have to mention that the Indian restaurant next door was excellent. We needed to catch a highway bus to Tokyo on our last day and the staff member I spoke to was really helpful in figuring out where the bus stop was, just a handy one‑minute walk from the front door. The only downside was that the shower times were a bit inconvenient, but we managed.
“お風呂を除けば非常にコスパいい”
The owner’s attentiveness was wonderful. When we stayed to watch the fireworks festival, it started raining midway, and the owner was outside with an umbrella, asking “Do you have an umbrella?” The building is old but was kept clean. The only problem was the loud door‑opening noise, which worried me about disturbing others. The bath was too small to fit, so we had to line up outside. Only one family could fit at a time. The changing room was also narrow, and when I tried to hang the hair dryer inside, it wouldn’t fit, so I couldn’t get into the bath on time and was stressed. I wish they could have extended the bathing time.
“Will not book again”
The location was good, but the mats smelled and one mattress had a period stain, so I gave it a 5.0/10.
It was comfortable. No particular issues.
I stayed in a cozy traditional place that had an in‑house onsen; it was small but pleasant, giving me a 9.0/10 rating.
