I appreciated the hotel's online booking system and the availability of car parking
Great location near the airport
The bathroom was a letdown due to its rusty marks and outdated appearance
The room was basic but spotlessly clean and met my needs perfectly

“Very close to the airport.”
The hotel’s proximity to the airport and its large car park are great. Unfortunately, the shower was terrible—water came out in a weak, thin stream that made washing nearly impossible. A functional shower is a basic expectation, so the bathroom needs renovation and at least a fix for the low water pressure.
“Save your back and go premier inn instead”
The fan was a lifesaver. The beds were awful, worse than Markarth beds by the nine. The walls were dirty and the bathroom door had no lock.
“Good location, bleak interior design”
The hotel’s location is good, and the bed and bathroom were clean and comfortable. The downstairs canteen offered a decent breakfast in a pleasant setting. However, the corridors and the brown‑grey walls in our room gave off a grim vibe; the old wooden fittings hint at a nicer past, but the paint and carpets need updating—otherwise it feels like The Shining.
“Conenient start to an excellent holiday”
Staying overnight before an early flight from Newcastle airport was super convenient; I was amazed at how close the hotel was to the airport when we left the front entrance that morning. There was nothing to dislike, and the hotel impressed us with everything it offered for our one‑night stay.
“I'm sure this hotel was great 40 years ago but unfortunately it is tired and not value for money.”
The hotel is very dated and clearly under‑invested, yet the staff try hard with what they have. Britannia Hotels are known as the worst hotel group in the UK, and this place makes that reputation obvious.
