“Quiet and rural”

The room was great with a wonderful bed, and the grounds and pool were lovely. The area feels rural and truly reflects where Balinese people live, so it was quiet and beautiful. I walked about 90 minutes to the Blue Lagoon on Ceningan Island, chatting with locals along the way, which was far better than rushing by on a scooter. The property is far from everything, which is fine if you rent a scooter, but I didn’t feel confident doing so. The cleaning lady was annoying; on my last day at 7:55 am she hovered on my deck and made noises to wake me up, and at 9 am she angrily demanded that I leave the room so she could clean it—checkout is at noon! I ignored her, but it was very irritating. The manager also procrastinated on fixing my shower; out of ten days I only had two hot showers. Cold water doesn’t rinse sunscreen off, and I was sick for a few days, so the cold showers weren’t helping.

“No chance to reach the reception ever!”

I would have given it a 10/10 if the contact to the reception/agency had been possible. We wanted to change our booking ten days before arrival and spoke to the guy who sometimes checks you in but can’t handle bookings—apparently that’s the agency’s job. He gave us their number, but neither call nor text worked. Piss poor for a 4* place, if you ask me.
