Gero Onsen Yukyunohana, a 2012-built ryokan, sits along Hida River, near JR Gero Station. The hotel offers private natural hot spring baths, river views, and traditional Japanese rooms with tatami seating areas. Guests enjoy in-room Japanese meals, free WiFi, and a 4th-floor reading room. A 1-minute walk from Hida River, it's close to Gero Onsen Museum and Kaeru Shrine.

The place was very clean and the food was excellent, but the floor plan was confusing; you can only access the main building by going through the 2nd floor.

The food was good, but the hot spring facilities left something to be desired.

The bath was great—true to the reputation of 下呂温泉, the water quality was excellent. I also enjoyed the tasty local dishes, and the staff were very helpful up until my check‑in. On the downside, the corridor to the bath felt rough for older guests, the dining area was dim so the food was hard to see, and the entrance to the annex echoed with noise when people came in and out; that hallway also carried a strong cigarette smell. Every room key was awkward to turn.

Nothing in particular stood out; the location was a drawback, the hallway between the main building and the spa was dirty and cramped, the hot spring wasn't very clean, the foreign staff were nice, but the Japanese staff were not very good.
