The room was stunningly decorated, with comfy bedding and high‑quality furnishings throughout the hotel. It was perfectly positioned near the station—just a 10‑minute walk—and the private parking outside was exactly what we needed to use as a base for a few days while exploring Ghent. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and easy to reach; thank you. The hotel was spotless, housekeeping was included, and the room even had a safe and a mini‑fridge. The garden area was lovely with plenty of seating. Air conditioning in the room was a bonus. Shared spaces like the lounge, dining room, and honesty bar were charming. We walked into the old town through the park and along the river, which took about 40 minutes each way, but it was a brilliant way to see everything and enjoy the autumn sunshine—highly recommended. However, the room was very dark even with all the lights on or the blinds open, especially near the coffee machine, so we had to use a phone torch to see what we were doing, which was not ideal. There is a low, large box—probably a boiler—above the toilet, painted the same colour as the walls, which is a hazard; in the UK this would need highlighting. We both hit our heads on it more than once over the three days, and it was awkward for my taller husband to access the toilet. The bathroom was a disappointment compared to everything else—mould in the shower, a damp smell masked by an air diffuser in the room, and the toilet took ages to refill, which was loud and frustrating. The room was not soundproof; we expected train noise to be an issue, but the door release each time someone entered the building and general noise from other guests was annoying and intrusive at times. We didn’t have breakfast because we had other plans each day, but the prices seemed expensive for the menu description. Overall, we loved the city and the accommodation was perfect for what we needed this time, but we would definitely want a different room if we stayed again, which would probably push us over our budget for what we feel is reasonable value.

The reception was very friendly and the room was ready on time. The bed was nice and the room was beautiful, with all amenities plentiful. The bathroom was adequate but a bit awkwardly arranged, and it was a little noisy.

There were dangerous boxes in the restroom.

The house was absolutely gorgeous, every detail was just perfect. No complaints at all.
