The location was great, with shops and the station a few minutes’ walk away. The four flights of stairs to the room were a killer, and the room maintenance could have been better.

The building has no lift and I had to climb four flights of stairs to reach the top floor every single time I wanted to go out, which was exhausting over five days; I also had to go downstairs and ask for towels that had already been taken in the morning and not replaced, and I asked for a fan because the room had no air, the window wouldn’t open much, and the shower temperature and water pressure were temperamental at different times of the day.

The location was good, just a 2‑5 minute walk to the beach and a few food and coffee spots nearby, with Pondland a minute away; however, I booked three family rooms for three families, one of which had a strong chemical smell and mold around the roof and above the bed, and the picture I shared is of the upgraded room so you can imagine how the original room might have looked; in another room the cattle were literally rusted and it seemed like there were rusted elements, so I had to request twice to change the cattle; the main entrance was from a bar, which gave off a bit of an alcohol vibe and didn’t feel safe for kids to stand alone; all the rooms were on different floors, which made it difficult for the kids to connect; and because the rooms were on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors with no lift, it was painful to carry buggies and luggage trolleys.

It was clean and quiet enough but you should expect this in a hotel. Bed was comfy. There was tea and coffee making facilities and shampoo etc. Thought the hotel was rough and not value for money. Room for check in was like a store room and no hint at any professionalism. Had to climb up and down many stairs, not offered help with luggage, I managed but it was not comfortable. No glass in the room for water so had to walk all the way down and up 4 floors again. I am not sure I felt safe as a lone female especially when I was told that the front door was open 24 hours. Couldn't wait to get out in the morning. Needed side light by the side of the bed not across the room. Lights came on late at every floor so in darkness for some of the trip up and down the stairs
