The location is beautiful, up in the mountains outside the village, with plenty of play options for kids: sandbox, climbing frame, slide, trampoline, playhouse. The host family was friendly. The holiday home/apartment was clean and tidy, with a dishwasher, microwave, oven, kettle and toaster in the kitchen. There were many animals—dogs, cats, chickens, turtles, and cows. The bathroom had no power outlet (perhaps due to water shortages at the time). The tractor garage is under the apartment, and sometimes you can be woken up early by it.

“Retraite tranquille à la ferme entre Freiburg et Forêt Noire”

The accommodation is large, tucked away in the hills on a farm (the homemade honey is excellent). The hostess speaks a little English, and the bovine neighbours are amusing.

The hosts were very friendly and helpful. Initially there were heating problems, but they responded quickly and worked hard to get everything running again. The courtyard is very nice and well‑maintained; we could feed the animals, which the kids especially enjoyed. The quiet, remote location is perfect for relaxing. I’d definitely come back.
