“Super comfortable and relaxing place to stay.”

The property delivers everything it promises. It feels like stepping back into an iconic New Zealand era—so quiet, so relaxing. I really enjoyed our stay. Lighting the fire in the old range was lovely and made the place cozy. The drive in is interesting with step gorges. You have to mention a negative so people know it’s a real review: I had trouble starting a fire (yes, a townie) until I found the stash of kindling. After that, no issues.

A very comfortable place with lots of historic touches that make it feel special. Items like bone‑china tea cups and lovely woolen blankets gave it a very old‑world feel. The horse over the fence was a bonus.

“An interesting and charming piece of history”

Such a lovely unit in rural New Zealand! Cozy and comfortable, and a unique stop on the way to Wellington. We loved how much thought and love had gone into decorating and restoring this historic property. The surrounding countryside is just beautiful—a welcome escape from the city. We thought it was fantastic, but would suggest the hosts add some plug‑in sensor night lights in the room and bathroom. It was very dark and hard to find light switches in the middle of the night! The property is a little off the beaten track—you’ll definitely need a car.

Good location, but I was scared at night because I didn’t know the setup and who was around. There was no shower? No microwave?
