Matia Resort, situated in Alba Iulia, lies just 300 metres from the historic Alba Carolina Citadel. The hotel offers family rooms with private bathrooms, flat‑screen TVs, fridges, kettles, and free toiletries, plus a sun terrace and shared lounge. Every time I pass through Alba Iulia, I stay at Matia Resort. Each time the services have been impeccable and the price is more than decent considering it’s just a few steps from gate 1 of the citadel.

The property is very close to the citadel and offers private parking. The conditions are fine, especially the apartment which is very comfortable and has everything you need. It also has a small garden. We appreciated being able to check in after 19:00. Access to the property and each room is by code. We did not look into the food options nearby. The double rooms, particularly room 4 on the ground floor, are a bit small and the door can be easily blocked by the night table.

Friendly staff let us check in right at the last minute, and the room was huge with a big sofa bed, a kettle, a hairdryer, and a fridge. I just wish they’d give us the Wi‑Fi password.
