A very warm “Welcome Back” from the hotel receptionist on arrival, and warm and friendly approach from all staff both within the hotel and the adjoining hotel-owner bar Ernest & Co. One standout moment was when a member of the bar team called Lucy proactively wished one of my colleagues (also called Lucy!) a happy retirement, having obviously overheard our conversation. This was a lovely personal touch, and the kind of service that is not often found

The staff were very good, polite, and provided good service, yet the room was on the main road and very noisy.

The staff were very friendly, polite, and helpful, but the room was tiny and very humid. Because it’s on a busy main road we had to keep the windows closed at night, which made the room hot and stuffy and the bedding felt damp due to the humidity – a fan was supplied but did nothing for the moisture, and a dehumidifier was definitely needed. The shower in the en‑suite was heavily moulded around the seals and tray, and there was an inch gap beneath the door so water sprayed onto the tiled floor, which was dangerous. The food options were extremely limited at the evening meal for anyone with a plain palate.

Excellent location, friendly staff, a clean and comfortable room, and a quiet bar. Parking is available on a first‑come basis, and there’s a large car park across the road. Nothing else to add.
