The Metro Plaza Hotel, located in downtown Los Angeles, adjoins Chinatown and Union Station. The hotel features a gym and offers free Wi-Fi in simply-styled rooms with warm-coloured linens and cable TV. On-site parking and a tour desk are available. The hotel is close to Los Angeles City Hall, Cathedral of the hotel's Lady of the Angels, and Walt Disney Concert Hall, 30 km from Los Angeles International Airport.

The location near Union Station is convenient, and at least the bathrooms were clean. The carpeting in the hallways is in desperate need of replacement, and the musty smell I noticed was clearly coming from those filthy mats.

This is my favorite hotel in California. Occasionally the neighbors get noisy, but the staff will swap rooms if there’s availability.

The spot near the train station was ideal. The staff were friendly, but the place needs a serious overhaul: hallway floors are badly worn, the air is dry, and the Wi‑Fi is terrible—couldn’t stream a movie on my laptop. It has potential, but it would help if new owners invested in renovations.
