I was on a road‑bike tour and arrived just as a wedding was starting. I expected the worst, but the room was well situated so I didn’t hear much of the celebration. I slept wonderfully – the beds were comfortable, which was all I needed. I didn’t go to the restaurant because of the large closed wedding party; I wasn’t going to impose. I didn’t starve; the neighborhood had plenty to eat. The room was a bit rustic for the price, but acceptable. A shower gel would have been nice, but I always carry a small bottle.

“Besser einen Bogen um Gasthaus Frank machen.”

The room was clean and the breakfast was nicely prepared and plentiful. The food at the guesthouse was delicious and generous. The owner and operator of the hotel and guesthouse is not a model host; he tends to nag guests more than he is friendly, making you feel like an obstacle. When we tried to pay with a debit card, he said it wouldn’t work and only accepted cash. No signage said “No card payments” or “Cash only.” I had to bike 8 km in 32 °C to get cash. Both the hotel and the optional breakfast and dinner offered an average price/value ratio. Overall, not recommended.

“Saubere Unterkunft. Für eine Nacht okay. Verpflegung muss im Vorfeld gut geplant werden.”

A warm welcome greeted us, and the pension sits in a green setting with a lovely garden perfect for picnics. We were shown the available rooms and chose the cooler one. The name is misleading; the ice‑cream shop and tasty homemade cakes are no longer there, and the inn now only hosts closed groups. At least a fridge is provided, and it would have been nice to have breakfast available.
