“Outstanding small boutique hotel.”
The boutique hotel sits in a very good spot, close enough to walk to the central district if you’re up for it. I walked to the Company Gardens in about 25 minutes, and an Uber would be needed for places like the V&A Waterfront. A few great restaurants are just a few minutes away. We stayed in the ‘apartment’, which has a bedroom, a separate living room, and a kitchenette – quite roomy, and my daughter liked the extra space for work. Both rooms had balconies, and from the bedroom balcony I could see Table Mountain, which is a six‑minute drive away. Breakfast was outstanding, fresh, with many options and a cooked‑to‑order menu that suited everyone. The staff were polite and helpful, and the managers gave us good recommendations. In the evenings the beds were ready, a carafe of cold water on the bedside table, slippers on a small mat next to the bed, and the heaters were on (early spring can be a bit cool overnight). We also appreciated that a selection of wines was placed in the dining area for guests to pour a small carafe; it was an honor system, just note what you took. A large fridge stocked with drinks was available 24 hours a day – just note it so it could be added to the room charge. So many wonderful touches in Derwent House, a place I would return to without hesitation. It’s a safe area, a small hotel where every guest is treated with utmost respect and addressed by name. Highly recommended. Nothing to dislike.
