Set on a 118‑hectare organic farm, the place feels remote and rustic yet delightfully simple. We enjoyed swimming in the pond, strolling the grounds, petting the dogs and donkeys, and checking out the various garden plots. The hotel’s commitment to using only local or natural products and minimizing waste was a definite plus. Cucumbi was exactly what we needed to unplug for a few days, and despite the hiccups mentioned below we managed to find our Zen 🙏🏻. The staff communication was terrible—often unresponsive, forgetful, or requiring repeated requests to get anything done. We reached out two weeks before arrival with several questions and, after sending multiple emails, booking messages, and finally WhatsApp notes, we only received a reply after repeatedly calling. Their disorganization and lack of awareness was frustrating, to say the least. The property is very child‑friendly, so while it’s a quiet, simple, rustic retreat, it was interrupted by intermittent screams and crying from toddlers running around; earplugs are recommended. Lunches and dinners were hit or miss and overpriced. Finally, we were disappointed that although a ceramics studio was advertised with a note that visitors could book it, we were only told upon arrival that it requires a minimum of six people.

The location is beautiful and quiet. The only downside is that the menu is strictly vegetarian. Both breakfast and dinner are overpriced for the small portions, and the selection is limited.

The staff is amazing, the food is incredible—you really feel well treated. It’s very family‑oriented, so it’s not very quiet with children around.

Cucumber is a safe haven where you can disconnect on another level; I’ve been here twice already. The place is amazing, the food is delicious, the staff is super helpful, and you just feel so welcome. You can stay there for days without needing to go out. Between the pool and the small lake, you have everything.
